A Bit About Me
Herb is a seasoned attorney with more than 30 years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, probate, and elder law. Since being admitted to the California State Bar in 1989, he has dedicated his career to helping clients prepare for the future and navigate the challenges of aging, illness, and loss with compassion and clarity.

Herb earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration (1981) and Religion (1982) from California Baptist College before graduating from Western State University College of Law in December 1988. He was admitted to practice law in June 1989. In 2008, he became a Certified Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Specialist by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization, and in 2013, he was accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs to represent clients in claims for veterans’ benefits.

Herb is known for his people-first approach to law, which he calls “Happy Law.” While estate planning often involves complex and emotional matters, he believes the work is ultimately about people, not paperwork. For him, a great day at the office is spent listening to clients’ stories, simplifying the complex through illustrations and humor, and providing reassurance through life’s joyful and difficult seasons. His perspective is also deeply personal, shaped by his own experiences with brain surgery and multiple eye surgeries, which reinforced the importance of both professional skill and compassionate care.

Herb’s leadership and service extend beyond his law practice. He has been an active member of the Riverside County Bar Association, serving as Chairperson of the Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Lawyers Section in 1999/2000, 2000/2001, and 2006/2007. He is also a member of the California Association of Nursing Home Reform, WealthCounsel, and ElderCounsel. His past involvement includes membership in the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys (six years), Riverside Estate Planning Council (numerous years), the Professional Advisors Council of the Community Foundation serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, UCR’s Planned Giving Advisory Board, the Inland Empire Planned Giving Roundtable (charter member), and the Inland Empire Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, where he was an associate member for eight years.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Herb still enjoys wearing a tie a couple of times a week—partly for appearances, but mostly because he appreciates a good tie. More importantly, he treasures the opportunity to serve his clients, whom he considers not only the focus of his practice but also the reason he continues to find meaning and fulfillment in his work after more than three decades.
